Culture, tradition and legends of Crete...If you would like to experience the real Crete, then this trip is for you. In the capable hands of our expert Tour Guide, Crete’s magnificent heartland and people, craftsmen and traditional rural life will be brought alive for you.
The first stop on our tour is at the charming village of Archanes, which is famous for its wine, Greek Neo-Classical architecture and Minoan archaeology. Enjoy a visit to the very interesting Archaeological Museum of the region, wander the pretty village streets and enjoy a coffee in the leafy square.
Later, we continue on through the most beautiful countryside. This is wine country and these vineyards have been producing wine for many centuries. Here we have the opportunity for some wine tasting and you will be given an informative tour. At the winery you will have the chance to do your wine shopping, so your holiday will stay alive long after you’ve returned home. Get your wine at excellent value for money.
Part of your discovery of the Unknown side of Crete is enjoying a traditional lunch. Locally produced organic food and wine is prepared for you at a family run tavern where you will taste local specialties, soak up the atmosphere and, in time honored tradition, complete your meal with Maria’s homemade Raki – it helps your digestion!
How much does a Cretan urn? In the uplands of Anopolis, it’s time to watch and learn the skills of a local potter. Crete has a tradition of pot making which dates back to Minoan times. The master potter will be happy to demonstrate his art and you will be given a guided tour of the workshops. You may also have the opportunity to try your hand at making your own work of art. Once again you will benefit from buying from the source, as it runs a ceramic shop where you may purchase from a wide variety of ceramics, urns and souvenirs. If you really want to get to know Crete, don’t miss this wonderful trip.
